The UK's PPSS Group has introduced a 'Tabard Style' stab-resistant vest to redress the common perception that personnel wearing body armour are more likely to be aggressive or confrontational.
Group CEO Robert Kaiser explains the new product was developed in response to feedback on traditional solutions for protecting employees in the transport and facilities management sectors from blunt force trauma (BTF is the term used to describe non-penetrating trauma or injury caused by kicks, punches, and other sources of body impact):
"Security managers, operations managers and health and safety officers kept telling us their existing non-confrontational body armour solutions were scaring people and making it difficult for front-line staff to appear accessible, helpful and safety conscious", he explains. "So we decided in view of the importance of high-visibility clothing today, that the best solution was to model a new line of products on a familiar style and settled for the classic Tabard which provides freedom of movement and is less visible than other outerwear".
The lightweight vest complies with high visibility standards and is certified by the UK Home Office for protection against BTF, edged weapons and hypodermic needles.
