New Laboratory and Learning Centre at the LIA

Europe's largest organisation representing the lighting industry, The Lighting Industry Association (LIA), has announced an early 2016 completion date for its new state-of-the-art product testing facility and Learning Centre.

The Lighting Industry Association (LIA) has announced that construction of a new lighting testing laboratory and state-of-the art Learning Centre at its Headquarters in Telford will be completed by early 2016.

State-of-the-Art Testing Laboratory

LIA Laboratories' upgraded facility (the Association's laboratory is already the largest independent test lab for the United Kingdom's lighting industry), will house the most up-to-date diagnostics and testing equipment, and is expected to operate as a national centre of excellence by offering its services to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) when it opens.

Learning Centre

The Association's new Learning Centre will provide a purposely designed learning environment, complete with course materials and modern training delivery methods, and is expected to support the educational needs of company staff, suppliers and lighting retailers by facilitating access to information and research on the benefits, capabilities and limitations of the latest lighting technologies.

Both projects will strengthen the capacity of the LIA and its member companies to respond to product performance issues that are facing the industry globally.

LIA Chief Executive Officer Steve Davies described the new facilities as "a fantastic asset", and told FM Magazine they will create new employment opportunities "across the lighting industry as a whole".
